Brief History of the Department of Archaeology

Archaeology Department of Trakya University was first founded in 1991 in the name of “Department of Classical Archaeology” as a subdivision of the Department of Archaeology and Art History which was affiliated to the Faculty of Letters. After separated from the Department of Art History in 2001, it became a main department of the faculty and named as “Archaeology Department”. However, it continued to work as just the “Department of Classical Archaeology” until the “Department of Prehistory” and the “Department of the Protohistory and Asia Minor Archaeology” founded in 2010.
